A single dose of gratitude can go a long way. I tend to forget to take a little time out of my day to simple reflect on the little things that I take for granted.
Yesterday I learned about Epidermolysis Bullosa. also known as EB, it's a painful condition that makes your skin sensitive - it's so sensitive that it's compared to butterfly wings. A documentary, The Butterfly Child, is about 14-year-old Jonathan Pitre who has this rear disease. Only 1 in 50,000 has this disease, it causes blisters in the skin because of a defect in the mucosal membrane, which results in making the skin extremely fragile. A simple task such as taking a bath or even touching someone results in excruciating pain. I couldn't imagine having this disease, let alone bear the pain caused by it. I can't believe this child has spent his entire life going through this and still manages to smile. He strong-hearted, caring, compassionate and he has definitely opened my eyes.
Not being able to take a relaxing bath never crossed my mind.
Not being able to touch someone never crossed my mind.
I'm guilty of taking the little things for granted, are you?
