The best part about living in a small college town is the local food. Stillwater has so many locally owned restaurants, I feel like I discover a new one every week. I have made a list of my personal top favorite places to eat in Stillwater that you can’t find anywhere else
Stillwater’s Jumpin’ Little Juke Joint. If you’re only in town for Stillwater to make it to one restaurant, it has to be Eskimo Joes. You have to go to Joes. You have to order cheese fries. And you have to get a soda so that you get a free cup. Joe’s is a fun, family restaurant with a little college kick.
I lived in Stillwater for three years before finding this hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and it was right across the street! Café 88 is home of what I deem the most delicious and spicy Asian food on the planet. With 5 levels of spicy to choose from, you’ll be sure to leave with a kick in your step. They also handcraft their own bubble tea. In the back, they boil the tapioca balls, brew the tea and add whatever flavor you request, and then they seal it tight at your own wish! Brilliant!
This place will taste even better than your own grannie’s kitchen. Granny’s is only open for breakfast. But, I’ll be the first to say, if my alarm clock is set for me to go to Granny’s, I will not be hitting the snooze button. I will spring out of bed with a smile if I know I’m about to eat Granny’s breakfast.
Walking into Da Vinci’s is like leaving Oklahoma and enter Italy. This little restaurant doesn’t really stand out amongst the crowd, and you wouldn’t really think much of it. But the food, the setting, the staff – it’s all incredible. Da Vinci’s Italian menu is delicious and if you’re in the mood for some real spaghetti, I highly recommend a visit.
So much food that it’s impossible to not get a to-go box, all for a price a college student can afford? Yes! I’m a picky eater, so the first time my friend and I went to eat here, I was a little hesitant with such a large menu. But boy was I in for a treat! If you want to take a date somewhere that won’t leave you eating ramen noodles the next two weeks, I recommend Thai Café.
Now, it may be on a little bit of the pricey side. But let me tell you, this gelato is worth every penny. With so many flavors to choose from, everyone will leave with a new favorite flavor. The atmosphere of the room is so cozy and relaxed, it makes it impossible to leave. And then they throw in live music every now and again and the shop turns into the best date spot in all of town.
Also known as a hometown IHOP. Shortcakes is here 24 hours a day to satisfy and pancake craving you have. Located right off the main road, you can swing by in between classes, for diner, or for breakfast like a normal person.
The finest cuisine in Stillwater, made by the finest residents of Stillwater. The Ranchers Club has it all. The chefs are the hard workers that provide for OSU dinning all day, everyday. The staff knows what the students want, because they’re students too. The Ranchers Club is a fine dining experience that anyone can appreciate. And the best part is, you can bursar it. Take the family or a date out for an elegant dinner, bursar, please!
Red Rock Bakery
Stillwater is lucky to have two Red Rock Bakeries, one on each side of town. They open up when you wake up and are sure to bring you the best on-the-go breakfast in town. The location on the north side of town has a drive-thru for you busy-bodies, while the one on the south side of town has a large dining space. So whatever pace of breakfast you crave, Red Rock Bakery is the choice.
