Welcome to Fall at the FRC!

All FGSH residents are welcome to attend these class at no cost. Click on this link http://frcokstate.com/community-development-enrollment to register for CD classes before you attend. Once registered you can attend as many of the classes that you wish to attend. A limited number of spots are available for adults that do not live in FGSH, for a minimal cost of $20/month. Fall 2019 Classes

Monday

Listening and Speaking 8:30 AM - 9:30 PM

Improve your listening and speaking skills by learning and using the language necessary for several contexts.

English in Media in America: 9:45 - 10:45 AM  

Learn usage of English in different forms of media like movies, news-papers, songs etc. This would be fun way to learn and practice English.

Grammar and Vocabulary: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Improve your grammar and vocabulary by learning new words and how to use them in the correct way to express yourself more accurately.

English 4-Skills: 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Come join us to improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. This class will improve overall English skills by teaching language through all forms of communication.

Pronunciation and speaking clinic: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Practice speaking English with sounds common in the English language to improve your pronunciation.

Tuesday

Grammar and Vocabulary: 8:30 AM - 9:30 PM

Improve your grammar and vocabulary by learning new words and how to use them in the correct way to express yourself more accurately.

Reading and Writing: 9:45 - 10:45 AM  

Improve your English skills through reading a variety of texts such as newspapers, blogs and stories and interacting with these readings through writing.

Common Phrases and Idioms in America:  11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Learn about common idioms and phrases used in daily conversation in America. This class will give you an opportunity to practice communication skills using new idioms and phrases.

Everyday Pronunciation: 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Practice sounds common in the English language through authentic communication activities in order to improve your pronunciation.

Wednesday

Oklahoma- History: 8:30 AM - 9:30 PM

This fun and interactive class provides an overview of Oklahoma history from the founding fathers all the way to the present.

Laws of Leadership: 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM

This class is for those interested in learning more about effective leadership principles that can be applied in every culture and situation.

Introduction to the American Legal System: 11:00 PM- 12:00 PM

This class is an introductory overview of the American legal system, how it is organized, and how it functions. We will also discuss different aspects of the law that are of interest to you and may impact your daily life, such as traffic, contract, landlord-tenant, criminal, and property law.

Vocabulary and Conversation skills: 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Learn new vocabulary and communicate effectively in daily conversations.

Thursday

Expert Seminar Series: 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

This is a new class where we will invite expert guest speakers every week during this class and also go for field trips. Guest speakers and fieldtrips will provide students a chance to hear from experts from many different fields.

Craft: 5:30 PM -6: 30 PM

Explore your passion for creativity while creating a fun and unique craft each week.

Grantwriting Series: 6:30 PM -7: 30 PM (first Thursday of the month)

This monthly workshop series will include sessions on various aspects of grantwriting, including finding and responding to grant requests for proposals (RFPs), constructing project logic models, project implementation, evaluating project outcomes, and developing project reports. Join us for one or all of the workshops in this series to learn about the grant process, from applications to reports!

Friday

English 4-Skills: 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM

Come join us to improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. This class will improve overall English skills by teaching language through all forms of communication.

Computer Technology: 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM

Learn the skills required for basic computer use. Students are given a brief overview of basic computer concepts, hardware, memory, multimedia, storage, networks. You will learn skills for using PowerPoint, Word and other important software for daily use.

Cooking Demonstration: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

This class is a great way to meet new people and learn how to cook a new dish. Anyone can volunteer to cook and the FRC purchases all the ingredients. Chef will get a participation gift. Sign up at FRC front desk to cook.

The FRC provides Activities for Children (AC) for all Community Development classes. AC are for children whose parent is attending FRC programs. Please do not bring your children with you into the classroom. The classes are quite full, and small children can be a distraction for their parents or other people in the room.

** There will be no Activities for Children during classes with this symbol.
